Let the waters under the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear. - Genesis 1:9

Truth Is Power

December 02, 2008

Humanity clamors for power, but they cling to this power by claiming to hold truth.

Mainstream secular education teaches anti-God doctrine in our institutes of education. As much as secular education may claim to be neutral with respect to religion, they are not. Neutrality is not a possible position to hold. We are either for God or we are against Him. The absence of religion does not create a vaccum, it only allows something else to fill the void. They desire to hold sway over our children and they do so by claiming to hold the truths of life. Their version of truth can be outlined this way…

· Religion is harmful

· Evolution explains life

· Science is king

· God is not a good god

But are these statements the truth of the matter? Can we, upon further examination, perform a sound evaluation of these statements and allow the outcome to speak for itself?

While Pilate was confronting Jesus about His status as the King of the Jews, Pilate laid claim to having power over Jesus. “So Pilate said to Him, “You do not speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?” Such pride humanity carries. How can anyone of us claim to have power over the creator of the universe, our creator? Jesus had the right to lay down His life and to take it back up again. He was subject to no man.

Jesus carried total power and authority over all of creation. When Jesus walked on water, even the water molecules recognized their creator and altered their physical properties to support his weight. It was almost as if the water molecules where saying, “we know who you are, you are our maker and you have total authority over us, direct us and we will obey.”

Jesus reminded Pilate of the power he did not have, “You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above…” Pilate was at the mercy of God and He was an instrument being used by God to accomplish God’s will.

There is a saying, “Those who control the past, control the future. Those who control the present, control the past.” Pilate’s pride caused him to believe he had the truth of the matter at hand and that truth was under his control, at that moment.”

What this reveals is a failing of all humanity, based upon truth as we see it. If we can just control the moment, then I can have all things fall into place. Pilate did not recognize that he did not contain the truth of life, he was not “of the truth” and he had no power over Jesus. God was in total control and His Son was the essence of truth.

Truth is power, but we do not hold the keys to truth, Jesus does. It is not ours to determine truth; it is ours to discover truth.
